What was the highlight of Hotel Hyper Hills Hirosaki
Good
The hotel was close both to the train terminal and the Hirosaki Castle. It had a buffet breakfast and overall wasn't bad for the price. They allowed leave our bads in the hotel a couple of hours after the check out.
The recepcionist was rude. The breakfast ended at 9 am and at 8:45 they started retiring all the food and being really loud and wanting us to leave (which is weird in Japan being most people super nice). It was an old hotel and could use a renovation

central location in the city
Good value for money, and good location about halfway between the Hirosaki park (castle) and the railway station. You can walk for 10-15 minutes to either.
If you only go to either the railway station or the castle, the walking is a bit far.

Quirky, interesting hotel but a bit frosty in terms of customer service
Free bathroom amenities and even soft toys for the kids to borrow . Breakfast was simple but very nice . The kids loved the free hot chocolate . Laundry facilities were also good
Staff were quite aloof, it was heavily snowing when we were there and I asked reception if they could help us get a large taxi to the station on our last day - they told me no . I asked again the next day using google translate and again they repeated no. This meant a very difficult walk back to the station pulling heavy luggage through streets of snow . I actually slipped and felt very embarrassed . Any assistance from the hotel for a family of 4 tourists obviously wanting help to get to the station would have been good
